You are required to write an academic style essay in which you critically evaluate an industry
community-based project that you have been exposed to within the course, using Tesoriero (2010)
integrated model of community development approach and relevant literature, frameworks and course
material to support this work.
Rationale and
objectives:
Human services professionals require an understanding of strategies for promoting community access
and inclusion for all marginalized and vulnerable groups. The World Health Organization’s (WHO)
Community Engagement Framework promotes collaboration among community leaders, vulnerable
people, their families, and other citizens to provide equal opportunities for all people in society. As such
it is essential that human services professionals be able to articulate and apply advanced knowledge of
community-based concepts, techniques and tools in program design or evaluation.
As such this assessment will require you to evaluate a community-based project that you have been
exposed to within the course and demonstrate advanced knowledge of using the integrated community based model, as defined by Tesoriero (2010). You will also engage in an in-depth evaluation of theory as
concerns the community-led project for a named demographic group of interest.
