Contradictions of the 1920’s

The 1920s was a decade full of contradiction. It was a time of optimism, youth, and prosperity. However, it also saw a growing conservative trend, isolation, and intolerance.

In a research paper, explain the two contradictions listed below and how they contributed to the development of America in the 1920s and beyond.

Include a title page, an introduction with a thesis statement, a body, a conclusion, and a reference page.

Contradiction 1: Fundamentalists vs. Modernists

Mass media was fueling the materialistic consumer driven culture, promoting self-expression while at the same time advertising the idea of unity in fashion and leisure, which contributed to the ideals of American youth and the lost generation; the modernists. While fundamentalists saw the growing trends of the modernist culture they did everything they could to bring America back to down to a decent conservative way of life

Contradiction 2: Rich vs. Poor
