Diversity and migration in metro Vancouver

Focus on multiculturalism and interculturalism in metro Vancouver and immigration in metro Vancouver

Quick Response

Vancouver is characterized by a mix of various religions, cultural groups, and ethnicities from most parts of the world. Such cultures add on to existing Canada’s indigenous communities. This aspect has encouraged the staff to value diversity and view it as a source of the city’s prosperity, vitality, and strength(Samovar, Porter, McDaniel, & Roy, 2014). Therefore, initiatives and programs have been initiated to encourage multiculturalism and cohesion. They include historical discrimination reconciliation programs, illumination of the city hall, restoration of Chinatown, religious and political expression, Vancouver immigration partnership, and anti-discrimination programs for citizens and dwellers of the city. Such approaches have promoted the co-existence of various cultures hence creating a habitable environment for all.
