National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is an independent, not-for-profit organization through which nursing regulatory bodies act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting public health, safety and welfare, including the development of nursing licensure examinations. (Homepage, 2021) For nurses, both student and practicing there are various resources available to stay on top of their craft. For myself, the NCLEX is a a source of impending stress. Upon reviewing the NCSBN website I have found many different webinars referencing NCLEX test prep and other test taking techniques that I believe would greatly help me in the future. The websites also lists a set of standards for nursing programs, which makes me feel secure in my education. When I am a practicing Registered Nurse I do also believe that the National Council of State Boards of Nursing website will greatly help me. They have resources on how to use your social media and what to post. Social media has grown so much over the past few years and social media posts have negatively effected nurses as of late. I think it is important to constantly stay up to date on the best practice for nursing as well as the best techniques for living your life outside of the hospital.

Taking the NCLEX, or the National Council Licensing Exam, after completing nursing school can be almost as daunting as the courses themselves. There are many resources that different organizations have set up to make the exam easier to understand and pass on the first attempt. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing has a website that offers practice exams and 3-to-15-week study plans, at a small cost, to help prepare you for the exam. There are also courses on how to transition into an active member of the healthcare team as a new nurse and videos that can give insight on the changing rules and regulations within the nursing field (National Council of State Boards of Nursing [NCSBN], 2021).
Other resources that professional nursing students can use include the National Student Nurses Association website (National Student Nurses’ Association [NSNA], 2021), that offers discounts on study guides and also points students nurses to other websites that may be helpful in preparing for their state boards. Nurse.org is another great resource for nursing students to go to when they are looking for NCLEX information and quality study guides and programs. In this particular article, Nurse.org sites five of their top picks for preparing to take the NCLEX (Nurse.org, 2021). One of the programs that they recommend is ATI. As a licensed practical nurse that has taken the NCLEX-PN and used the ATI study guides and sample testing program, I can attest that it is very beneficial and provides a wealth of knowledge to prepare you for what you will see on the state exam.
