Scope:

 

You are required to select an organisation that will help you to illustrate your understanding of the concepts and theories discussed in topics 1-5 of this course. The organisation you choose will also be the subject of analysis for assessment task 2, so ensure that you can find (and appropriately reference) a satisfactory amount of information regarding the organisation you choose.

You will then prepare an essay that demonstrates awareness and understanding of the concepts and theories discussed in this course in relation to the organisation you have chosen. The course coordinator has prepared a video that explains the requirements of the task in greater detail, along with several other useful tips about the assignment, and this video is available on the Moodle site.

The marking criteria is also provided on the Moodle site as a separate document; however, in summary, your assessment will be marked based on how well it addresses the following areas.

Students are to demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter by:

·         Defining key terms and utilising the theories and concepts presented in topics 1-5

·         Ability to explain major domestic and international contextual factors and how they affect business structures and strategy.

·         Demonstrating a breadth and quality of research by using a minimum of 12-16 academic sources.

·         Correctly using of the APA in text referencing system to correctly citing academic sources.

 

Possible Sol:

Business Organisation requires a number of internal and external factors to be operating for them to be successful. An organisation that competes successfully in the global market values Integrity, team work, accountability, clients, speed and efficiency. The purpose of this essay is to look at an organisation in the light of the Mckinsey 7-s Frame work, and conduct a PESTLE and SWOT analysis, the essay will focus on Tata Motors, an automotive manufacturing company based in India.

 

Tata Motors which is a derivative of their parent company Tata group and focus mainly on automotive manufacturing company which deals with design, manufacture and sales of Vehicles, It was also the first Indian automobile company which was listed on the New York stock exchange, they began manufacturing the vehicles in 1954 in collaboration with Daimler Benz of Germany, with this they are now the India’s largest commercial Vehicle manufacturer,  the company recorded revenues of INR2, 625, 265.2 million, headquartered in Mumbai, India.
