In Chapter 1 of Mullen’s Hard Thinking, the main theme involves how to distinguish hard thinking from soft thinking. In many ways throughout the chapter, but especially in the part of Chapter 1 which discusses hard thinking vs. soft thinking at the ‘meta’ level, Mullen clearly gives the message that being a hard thinker will not only make you a better thinker, but will also make you a better person. In a short essay (400-450 words), first show how Mullen presents this (you will have to do some summarizing of his main ideas on this point). In the second part of your essay, identify whether you agree or disagree with Mullen (and to what extent), and briefly explain your position.
