At the end of each chapter you read for this week there are discussion questions. Pick one question from each chapter to respond to. (Be sure to be concise! Remember, you only have 2 pages excluding references.)
Chapter 1 Discussion Question: After reading this chapter and reflecting on the examples in it, what questions do you have about impact of a student’s math identity on his or her mathematics competence and confidence? What strategies have you used to learn about the school and life experiences of students in your classroom?
Chapter 2 Discussion Question: What additional family roles do your students take on that might contribute to their positive development in mathematics?
Chapter 3 Discussion Question: What role did race, class, gender, culture, or language play in your math learning story? How do those experiences connect with what you have observed in your own students and their developing mathematics identities?
