According to research, the BMI for Blacks has higher values than the whites and Hispanic society. This suggests that the BMI cutoff differs by race/ethnicity (Rahman & Berenson, 2010). BMI results are used to determined obesity in society. Therefore, the values used can mislead a significant population especially the blacks in the population. This is especially when statistics show that 50% of African American women are obese. Other arguments highlight that blacks have a higher prevalence of physical inactivity.
